Miss Volunteer
Cortney’s been in the volunteering mood lately. On April 25th she helped out at the taste of Calhoun in the Relay for Life booth. Then on May 1st she helped at a booth at the Relay for Life walk. This is the second year she has done the Relay for Life walk. Uunfortunately at about 8:30 pm it was rained out, but there’s next year. I’m sure she’ll be there because Cortney has already severalpeople close to her fight cancer and a good friend to died with cancer this year.

VA Trip
Cortney just got back from her trip to VA. This way Cortney’s first time flying by herself and the first time flying since she was 13 months old. She was gone for 4 days. She was able to see a lot of people that she hadn’t seen in a while and made 3 new friends. She had fun and now has a new pen pal (Austin).
Cortney is turning into a traveler. This is the second trip she’s been on this year and has already got two more trips planned over the next 3 months. (I’m going to have to retrain her to stay home) She’s on the go but she loves it.

Big 3 Day
OK Today was a BIG day for the kids. First they went to the Ringling Brothers circus. When they returned from that, they went to the farm and rode the donkey. To top off the day We had Nicole’s wedding to go to. So they were able to pack all of this in from 8:30am to 7:00pm.
Very Big and busy day. But they had fun.

In Memory
IDA MARTIN
(07/24/22 – 01/14/07)
This is Cortney and her Great Granny Martin. She was a great lady what little I knew her. She was always great to Cortney and Cortney misses her deeply.
You would always be there by the phone it always seemed like you were always sitting there just waiting there for me to call. You would send me stuff for my birthday, Christmas and Valentines day. I would always send you pictures not wanting anything in return but yet you still managed to get me something. When I came to see you and gave you a panting you tried to give me a glass bird out of your collection. I said no but you wouldn’t take that for an answer so I gave in and allow you to give it to me also you gave my aunt $20 to give to me. You were way to nice to me. You may be gone from the earth but you’ll be in my heart. – Cortney
You always sent me something for every holiday you would call me when something was wrong you loved me and I loved you. Though we were miles apart you were always in my heart and you will always be in my heart. – Cortney
We just learned earlier today that Cortney’s great grandmother Martin died this afternoon. Cortney was as close to her as she could be. Mrs. Martin lived 4.5 hours away so Cortney could always see her, but she called her ALL the time. She talked to her Granny Martin on the phone more than she talked to her own friends. I learned later on tonight from one of Cortney’s friends at school that Cortney had leaned over to her in class today and said I don’t feel good, something’s not right, something’s going on and it’s not good. (This was said to the friend at 10:30 this morning, her great granny died at 1:45 this afternoon). But also at church tonight I found out the Cortney had asked pray for her Granny Martin in class last week (we did not know that Mrs. Martin was even in the hospital last week until we got the call today) To me this goes to show how close Cortney felt to her and even maybe God’s way of easing the blow. But the blow hit her like a ton of bricks. She dropped everything in her hands ran out the door into the woods. Turns out later I found out while she was in the woods she was so up set she was pulling trees out of the ground. This was a great lady and she loved Cortney as much as Cortney loved her. At times if Cortney hadn’t talked to her in a while and she woke up in the middle of the night because she had a dream that something was wrong or Granny was sick she would wake up crying and she would call her Granny Martin in the middle of the night to check on her and she would find out that Granny was sick. Because Mrs. Martin had been so sick lately Cortney hasn’t gotten to talk to her much, also because of the illness Mrs. Martin did not want a viewing or a funeral. So Cortney doesn’t get to say Good Bye and that is Killing her. So Please Y’all don’t forget Cortney over the next few days.
